Fun Things To Do with Starfish Coloring Pages
Once they are colored, these star-shaped pages can be used for fun games, crafts, and learning! Here are ten things to try:
Starfish Symmetry Fold:
- Color a large, simple starfish outline.
- Cut it out and draw a straight line down the middle.
- Challenge your child to fold the starfish exactly in half along the line, showing how both sides match perfectly to teach the concept of symmetry.
Starfish Salt Dough Ornaments:
- Use a simple starfish coloring page as a template to cut the shape out of cardstock.
- Use the cardboard cut-out to press the shape into salt dough.
- Bake or dry the dough, then have your child paint and decorate the 3D starfish ornament using the colors from their coloring page as inspiration.
Five-Arm Counting Game:
- Color and cut out several starfish.
- Have your child use small stickers or tiny pebbles to count out five items, placing one on the tip of each of the starfish’s five arms.
Starfish Stencil Art:
- Color a starfish page and glue it onto cardboard to make it stiff.
- Carefully cut out the entire starfish shape.
- Use the cardboard outline as a stencil! Kids can trace the sea star silhouette onto other paper and decorate it with unique patterns.
“Regrowing Arms” Puzzle:
- Color a simple starfish picture.
- Cut two or three arms off the shape.
- Challenge your child to glue the lost arms back on to reform the star shape, talking about how a real starfish can regenerate lost limbs!
Puffy Paint Starfish Texture:
- Mix equal parts shaving cream and white glue (with a few drops of color) to create puffy paint.
- Have your child spread the puffy mixture onto the colored starfish shell.
- Once it dries, the paint will create a unique, 3D, bumpy texture.
Ocean Floor Hide-and-Seek:
- Color and cut out three or four starfish.
- Use a towel or sheet to represent the “ocean floor.”
- Have your child close their eyes while you hide the starfish under small items (like toy cups or shells).
- The child then gets to be a “deep-sea diver” and search for the hidden starfish.
Starfish Color Matching:
- Color several starfish pages in five different solid colors (e.g., red, yellow, blue, etc.).
- Cut them out.
- Gather small colored objects (pom-poms, beads) that match the starfish colors.
- Challenge your child to match each starfish to its correct color pile.
Washi Tape Starfish Stripes:
- Choose a simple starfish coloring page.
- Have your child tear or cut small pieces of washi tape or painter’s tape.
- They can then stick the tape onto the starfish in stripes or polka-dots to create a fun, mixed-media design.
The Starfish Regeneration Race:
- Color two identical starfish pages.
- Cut one of the starfish into three or four large puzzle pieces (arms and a center).
- Race against the clock to see who can put the starfish back together and “regenerate” it the fastest.
