Once they are colored, these star-shaped pages can be used for fun games, crafts, and learning! Here are ten things to try:

Starfish Symmetry Fold:

  1. Color a large, simple starfish outline.
  2. Cut it out and draw a straight line down the middle.
  3. Challenge your child to fold the starfish exactly in half along the line, showing how both sides match perfectly to teach the concept of symmetry.

Starfish Salt Dough Ornaments:

  1. Use a simple starfish coloring page as a template to cut the shape out of cardstock.
  2. Use the cardboard cut-out to press the shape into salt dough.
  3. Bake or dry the dough, then have your child paint and decorate the 3D starfish ornament using the colors from their coloring page as inspiration.

Five-Arm Counting Game:

  1. Color and cut out several starfish.
  2. Have your child use small stickers or tiny pebbles to count out five items, placing one on the tip of each of the starfish’s five arms.

Starfish Stencil Art:

  1. Color a starfish page and glue it onto cardboard to make it stiff.
  2. Carefully cut out the entire starfish shape.
  3. Use the cardboard outline as a stencil! Kids can trace the sea star silhouette onto other paper and decorate it with unique patterns.

“Regrowing Arms” Puzzle:

  1. Color a simple starfish picture.
  2. Cut two or three arms off the shape.
  3. Challenge your child to glue the lost arms back on to reform the star shape, talking about how a real starfish can regenerate lost limbs!

Puffy Paint Starfish Texture:

  1. Mix equal parts shaving cream and white glue (with a few drops of color) to create puffy paint.
  2. Have your child spread the puffy mixture onto the colored starfish shell.
  3. Once it dries, the paint will create a unique, 3D, bumpy texture.

Ocean Floor Hide-and-Seek:

  1. Color and cut out three or four starfish.
  2. Use a towel or sheet to represent the “ocean floor.”
  3. Have your child close their eyes while you hide the starfish under small items (like toy cups or shells).
  4. The child then gets to be a “deep-sea diver” and search for the hidden starfish.

Starfish Color Matching:

  1. Color several starfish pages in five different solid colors (e.g., red, yellow, blue, etc.).
  2. Cut them out.
  3. Gather small colored objects (pom-poms, beads) that match the starfish colors.
  4. Challenge your child to match each starfish to its correct color pile.

Washi Tape Starfish Stripes:

  1. Choose a simple starfish coloring page.
  2. Have your child tear or cut small pieces of washi tape or painter’s tape.
  3. They can then stick the tape onto the starfish in stripes or polka-dots to create a fun, mixed-media design.

The Starfish Regeneration Race:

  1. Color two identical starfish pages.
  2. Cut one of the starfish into three or four large puzzle pieces (arms and a center).
  3. Race against the clock to see who can put the starfish back together and “regenerate” it the fastest.
