Fun Activities To Do with Seahorse Coloring Pages
These coloring sheets are just the start! Once colored, kids can use these pages to learn about ocean life, create beautiful decorations, and play imaginative games. Here are a few activities to try:
Seahorse Reef Collage
- Color several different seahorses, corals, and sea plants.
- Cut out all the pieces.
- Glue them onto a large blue sheet of paper, overlapping them to create a crowded, busy coral reef scene.
Seahorse Growth Chart
- Color three seahorses of different sizes (small, medium, large).
- Cut them out.
- Have your child line them up to practice sequencing by size, discussing how baby seahorses grow.
Hanging Seahorse Mobiles
- Color four to five of your favorite seahorses.
- Punch a hole at the top of each one and tie a string to it.
- Hang them from a dowel, coat hanger, or paper plate to create a beautiful ocean mobile that gently moves.
“Clinging Tail” Game
- Color and cut out a seahorse (emphasize the curled tail).
- Give the seahorse to your child and challenge them to hook the tail around small objects (like a pencil, finger, or piece of string) to show how seahorses cling to coral.
Seahorse Father’s Day Card
- Color the page featuring the daddy seahorse in a suit.
- Fold the page or glue it to card stock to turn it into a card.
- Write a special message about how daddy seahorses are the best caretakers (since the fathers actually carry the babies!).
Make a “Straight Up” Race Track
- Color and cut out a couple of seahorses.
- Tape a few drinking straws vertically on a wall or piece of cardboard to create parallel tracks.
- Tape a small magnet to the back of each seahorse and use a stronger magnet on the outside of the straw to move the seahorses up, showing how they swim upright!
Salty Seahorse Texture Art
- After coloring the seahorse, paint the background area (the water) with glue.
- Sprinkle a layer of salt over the wet glue.
- Once dry, the salt will give the ocean scene a bumpy, watery texture that looks like real sea foam or sand.
Seahorse Shape Stencils
- Color a simple seahorse page and glue it onto cardboard to make it stiff.
- Carefully cut out the entire seahorse shape.
- Use the cardboard outline as a stencil! Kids can trace the seahorse silhouette onto other paper and decorate it with unique patterns.
Seahorse Crown or Puppet
- Color the royal seahorse coloring page.
- Cut the seahorse out and tape it to a large, stiff headband or a thick piece of cardstock.
- Now you have a seahorse crown to wear or a fun hand puppet to swim around the room with!
Design a New Species
- Print a simple seahorse coloring page.
- Use crayons, markers, and glitter to draw a brand-new, crazy design onto the seahorse (like stripes, dots, or wild fins).
- Give your new creation a funny name, like the “Rainbow Spotty Seahorse,” and write down where it lives.
