Welcome to the Tiger Activity Jungle!
These majestic cats are great inspiration for crafts, games, and learning! Here are ten fun activities to try:
Tissue Paper Stripes
- Color the tiger’s body orange.
- Tear up small pieces of black tissue paper or construction paper.
- Glue the black pieces onto the stripe areas to give the tiger a fuzzy, textured coat.
Tiger Finger Puppet
- Color and cut out a small tiger face.
- Cut two small holes at the bottom of the paper for your child’s fingers.
- Put your fingers through the holes to make the tiger walk! The fingers act as the tiger’s powerful legs.
The “Roar” Sound Game
- Color the page featuring the tiger roaring.
- Show your child how the shape of the tiger’s mouth changes when it roars.
- Have them practice making a quiet, gentle tiger “meow” and a loud, dramatic “ROAR!”
Tiger Mask
- Color a tiger face page that is roughly the size of your child’s head.
- Glue the page onto thick cardboard.
- Carefully cut out the face shape and two eye holes.
- Attach string or elastic to the sides to create a wearable tiger mask.
Jungle Habitat Map
- Color and cut out several tigers.
- On a large piece of green paper, draw basic jungle features: a river, tall grass, and a cave.
- Your child can then place the cut-out tigers onto the “map,” deciding where the best places for them to hunt or hide would be.
Stripe Matching Puzzle
- Color a simple tiger picture with very distinct stripes.
- Cut the paper vertically into three to four different sections.
- Have your child mix up the strips and then try to put the stripes back in order to reform the tiger.
Orange and Black Collage
- Gather construction paper in orange, black, and white.
- Use the tiger coloring page as a base, and instead of coloring, have your child tear and glue the colored paper pieces onto the tiger to create a vibrant collage coat.
Wet-on-Wet Watercolor
- Wet the entire paper surface of a simple tiger outline with a sponge.
- Have your child use orange and yellow watercolors to paint the wet paper.
- The colors will bleed beautifully, mimicking the soft texture of a tiger’s fur.
Prowling Shadows Game
- Color and cut out one large tiger silhouette.
- Tape the tiger cutout to the wall and place a lamp or flashlight a few feet away.
- Move the light closer and farther away so your child can watch the shadow grow and shrink, just like a prowling tiger’s shadow in the jungle.
Big Cat Paw Prints
- Use a simple drawing of a tiger paw or have your child trace their own hand.
- Dip the edge of their hand (or the paw cutout) into paint and make large tiger paw prints on a separate sheet of paper.
- Once dry, they can add little black stripes to the prints for extra detail!
