Start by drawing lightly so that you can easily erase if you make any mistakes.
Step 1: Draw the Spider’s Body Shape
Start by drawing a large circle for the spider’s body outline.

Step 2: Draw Four Front Legs
Draw four legs extending from the front sides of the body (two on each side). For each leg, draw three segments:
- First, a short, thick line segment pointing up and out.
- Second, a slightly longer line segment bending down.
- Finally, draw a thin, pointed line for the foot.

Step 3: Draw the Spider’s Four Back Legs
Draw the remaining four legs extending from the back sides of the body (two on each side). Follow the same three-segment pattern. Make sure the back legs are a little bit thinner for a realistic look!

Step 4: Add Texture to the Body
On the top edge of the spider’s body, draw a few short, wavy lines to add a fuzzy texture.

Step 5: Draw the Face Details
Let’s give our spider a cute face!
- Draw two small, friendly circle eyes on the head with inner pupils.
- Add a simple curved smile and two small ovals on either side for rosy cheeks.

Step 6: Color Your Spunky Spider!
It’s time to add color! Color the body bright yellow and the legs orange. You can add some brown on the body texture or legs to make your drawing more fun and colorful. Don’t forget to fill in the rosy cheeks!

Draw More Eyes: Some spiders have eight eyes! Try adding more small dots around the main eyes.

Add a Mushroom: Draw a big mushroom so that your cartoon spider can crawl under it!

How to Fix Common Spider Drawing Mistakes
- Leg Count: Remember, spiders have eight legs (four on each side)! Double-check that you’ve drawn all of them, as detailed in Step 2 and Step 3.
- Leg Segments: Each leg should look like it has joints. Ensure you draw the three distinct segments for each leg.
- Body Texture: Don’t forget the wavy texture lines in Step 4—they make your spider look fuzzy!
- Body Shape: The body should be large enough to give your spider a cartoonish, fun look.
Helpful Spider Drawing Tips and Tricks For Kids
- Practice Ovals: Since the body is an oval shape, practice drawing smooth oval shapes freehand.
- Symmetrical Legs: Try to make the legs on one side mirror the legs on the other side for a balanced look.
- Happy Expression: Exaggerate the smile and rosy cheeks in Step 5 to make your spider extra friendly and less spooky!
- Background Leaves: Draw some green leaves or twigs around your spider to show it hiding in nature.
Spider Fun Facts for Kids
- Not Insects: Spiders are arachnids, not insects! Insects have six legs, while spiders have eight.
- Silk Spinners: All spiders produce silk, which they use for building webs, wrapping prey, creating egg sacs, and even traveling through the air!
- Variety: There are over 40,000 known species of spiders in the world, and they live almost everywhere!
- Helpful Hunters: Most spiders are harmless to humans and are very helpful because they eat many insects we consider pests, like flies and mosquitoes.
