Start by drawing lightly so that you can easily erase if there are mistakes. Continue by following the arrow step.
Step 1: Draw the Pig’s Head and Ears
Start by drawing a rounded “C” shape for the pig’s head outline.
At the top and back of the head, add two small, rounded, oval shapes slightly pointed at the top for the ears. Finish with small curved lines inside the ears for texture.

Step 2: Add the Pig’s Body Shape
Now, from the back of the head, draw a large, rounded, oval shape for the pig’s plump body. It should connect smoothly to the head.

Step 3: Draw the Legs and Curly Tail
Draw four short, sturdy lines extending downwards from the bottom of the body for the legs. Gently erase any part of the body outline where the legs attach to make them look connected.
At the bottom of each leg, draw two small triangle shapes for the hooves.
At the back of the body, draw a small, curly spiral shape for the pig’s tail.

Step 4: Add the Pig’s Face Details
Let’s give our pig a friendly face!
- On the side of the head, draw a large, rounded oval for the snout. Inside the snout, draw two small, oval dots for the nostrils.
- Above the snout, draw two small circles with dots inside for the eyes. Add small lines above the eyes to make our pig look extra cute.
- From the bottom of the snout, draw a curved line for a happy smile.

Step 5: Color Your Oink-tastic Pig!
Time to bring your pig to life with color! The classic color for a pig is light pink, but you can also color your pig with brown, black, or spotted patterns! Color the snout a slightly darker pink and the eyes black.

How to Fix Common Pig Drawing Mistakes
- Body Too Thin/Small: Pigs are usually plump! If your pig looks too skinny, try making the body shape (from Step 2) larger and more rounded.
- Snout Too Small/Wrong Shape: The snout is a pig’s most defining facial feature. Make sure it’s a prominent, rounded oval with clear nostrils, as in Step 4.
- Tail Not Curly Enough: A pig’s tail is famously curly! If yours is too straight, go back to Step 3 and give it a good spiral.
- Uneven Ears: Make sure your pig has two ears. Try to make them similar in shape and size as seen in Step 1. Don’t forget the curved lines inside the ears for extra expression.
- Legs Too Long/Thin or Missing Hooves: Pig legs are short and sturdy, If yours look too long or flimsy, shorten and thicken them. Don’t forget to add those small hoof shapes at the bottom as shown in Step 3.
Helpful Drawing Tips and Tricks For Kids
- Start with Simple Shapes: Notice how the pig begins with basic “C” and oval shapes. This makes it easier to build the rest of the drawing.
- Smooth Lines: Pigs are generally round and smooth, so try to use flowing, continuous lines when you draw.
- Think Symmetry (for the face): Even though the pig is sideways, try to keep the eyes and snout centered on the head to make it look friendly.
- Practice Your Circles/Ovals: Drawing good rounded shapes will help a lot with drawing pigs, from their bodies to their snouts!
- Color Creatively: While pink is common, don’t be afraid to use other colors or add spots to make your pig unique!
Pig Fun Facts for Kids
- Smart Animals: Pigs are actually very intelligent animals and can even be trained to do tricks!
- Strong Noses: A pig’s snout is super strong and flexible. They use it to dig and root around for food.
- Love to Roll in Mud: Pigs often roll in mud, not because they are dirty, but because it helps them cool down and protects their skin from the sun and insects.
- Omnivores: Pigs are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants (like fruits, vegetables, and grains) and meat (like insects).
- Large Families: A female pig is called a sow, and she can give birth to a large litter of piglets, sometimes up to 10 or more!
- Different Sounds: While we often hear “oink,” pigs make many different sounds to communicate, including grunts, squeals, and snorts.
