Start by drawing lightly so that you can easily erase if there are mistakes. Continue by following the arrow step.
Step 1: Draw the Head Outline of the Goose
Start by drawing a rounded circle shape that will form the goose’s head. Keep it open at the bottom so you can connect it to the neck.

Step 2: Add the Goose’s Neck and Body Outline
From the bottom of the head, Extend the sides downwards to create a long neck.
From the bottom of the neck, draw a large, rounded, and slightly elongated oval shape for the goose’s body. Finish with a small curved shape at the back to form the tail.

Step 3: Add the Legs and Wings
Draw two short, sturdy lines extending downwards from the bottom of the body for the legs. At the bottom of each leg, add three small, slightly pointed shapes for the webbed feet.
On the side of the body, draw a few overlapping, wavy lines to indicate the feathers of the wings.
Erase any part of the body outline where the legs attach, to make them look connected.

Step 4: Add the Goose’s Face Details
Let’s give our goose a friendly face!
- On the head, draw a small, round dot for the eye.
- From the front of the head, draw a flat, triangular shape for the beak.
- add a small line inside the beak for the nostril.

How to Fix Common Goose Drawing Mistakes
- Neck Too Short/Thick: Geese have long, elegant necks. If yours looks short or stubby, try to make it longer and thinner as in Step 2.
- Body Not Rounded Enough: The goose has a plump, rounded body. If yours looks too angular or flat, make it more curved and full from Step 2.
- Missing Webbed Feet: The webbed feet are characteristic of water birds. Remember to add those two small points at the end of each leg in Step 3.
- Beak Shape: The beak is flat and triangular. If yours looks too pointy or rounded, adjust it in Step 4.
- Wing Detail: Don’t forget the wavy lines for the wing feathers to give it texture, as shown in Step 3.
Helpful Drawing Tips and Tricks For Kids
- Smooth Curves: Geese are full of smooth, flowing lines. Try to use continuous pencil strokes for the neck and body.
- Look at the Neck: The long, curved neck is very important for a goose’s shape. Practice drawing that first!
- Connect Shapes: Notice how the head, neck, and body connect smoothly. Think of them as one fluid shape.
- Light Sketching: Always start by drawing lightly with your pencil so it’s easy to erase and fix mistakes. You can press harder once you’re happy with your lines.
- Imagine It Moving: Think about how a goose moves – waddling, swimming, or flying. This can inspire your drawing!
