Start by drawing lightly so that you can easily erase if there are mistakes. Continue by following the arrow step.

Step 1: Draw the Head and Wool Top

Start by drawing a rounded, slightly oval shape for the goat’s head. On top of the head, draw a bumpy, cloud-like shape to represent its woolly hair.

Step 2: Add the Goat’s Ears and Horns

On either side of the head, draw two leaf-like shapes with curved lines inside for the ears, pointing downwards. On top of the head, draw two curved, horn shapes that resemble wide, curved triangles pointing upwards and slightly outwards.

Step 3: Draw the Goat’s Body and Legs

Below the head, draw a larger, oval shape for the goat’s body, connecting it smoothly to the head with a short neck.

Draw four short, slightly angled lines extending downwards from the body for the legs. At the bottom of each leg, add a small, rounded hoof shape.

Finally, add a short, curved tail extending upwards from the back of the body.

How to Fix Common Goat Drawing Mistakes

  • Head or Body Too Small: Make sure the head and body are proportionate. If one is too small, erase and redraw it larger.
  • Horns Missing or Incorrect Shape: Don’t forget the distinct curved horns! Check their shape and make sure they point upwards and outwards.
  • Ears Too Small or Pointing Up: Goat ears in this style are typically leaf-shaped and hang downwards.
  • Uneven Legs or Missing Hooves: Ensure all four legs are roughly the same length and thickness, and remember to add those small hoof shapes.
  • Missing Tail, Face Details, or Goatee: Add the small, curved tail, the simple facial features (eyes, nose, mouth), and that characteristic little goatee to complete your goat.

Helpful Drawing Tips and Tricks For Kids

  • Start with Light Lines: Sketch your shapes lightly with your pencil. This makes it easy to erase and adjust before you draw darker.
  • Use Curved Lines: Goats have many rounded shapes. Try to use continuous, flowing lines for their body and head.
  • Observe the Shapes: Pay close attention to the shapes of the head, body, ears, and horns in the picture to guide your drawing.
  • Add Fur Texture: Use small, slightly wavy lines to add a hint of texture to the goat’s woolly hair and body.
  • Keep it Simple and Fun: This is a cartoon goat, so don’t worry about adding too many tiny details. Focus on the main shapes and have fun!
