What You Need To Draw Your Dragon :
- Paper, pencil or marker, and eraser
- Our Dragon Drawing Guide PDF Worksheet (optional)
- Coloring supplies if you want to color in your drawing (optional)
Start by drawing lightly so that it can be easily erased if there are mistakes, continue by following the arrow step.
Step 1: Draw the Dragon’s Head and Body
Start by drawing an oval for the head and leave an empty space at the top for the horns. Then, add a long curved line from the head to form the neck, connecting it to a larger oval for the body. Finish with a curved line in the middle to separate the belly from the body.
Tip for Kids: Make the neck slightly curved to give your dragon a playful look. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect. You will get better with practice!
Step 2: Draw the Dragon’s Legs and Arms
Draw two small curved arms coming out from the upper part of the body, with three little claws at the ends. Next, draw two slightly rounded shapes at the bottom of the body for the legs. Add small curved lines at the tips for toes.
Tip for Kids: Keep the arms and legs small and cute for a friendly dragon design.
Step 3: Draw the Tail and Wings of the Dragon
From the back of the body, draw a long, curved line that tapers to a point for the tail. For the wings, start with a curved line and add triangular shapes to create the wing’s structure.
Tip for Kids: Add small curves inside the wings for extra detail, but keep it simple so it’s easy to draw.
Step 4: Draw the Dragon’s Face Details and Final Touches
Inside the head, draw a big round eye with a smaller circle inside it for the pupil. Add two tiny dots for the nostrils on the snout and a curved line for the dragon’s happy smile. Then at the top of the head in the empty space, draw two curved triangle shapes for the horns. After that, draw small curved lines on the belly to create the dragon’s belly scales. Finally, double-check your drawing for any missing details.
Tip for Kids: Make the eye big and the smile wide to make your dragon look cheerful and friendly!
Step 5: Color your Dragon
Now that your dragon drawing is complete, it’s time to bring it to life with colors! Use your favorite colors to make your dragon unique. Try green, red, or even purple for the body. Add some bright colors to the wings and scales for a magical touch.
Tip for Kids: You can use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to make your dragon stand out. Be creative and make your dragon as colorful as you want!
