Start by drawing lightly so that you can easily erase if there are mistakes. Continue by following the arrow step.
Step 1: Draw the Bunny’s Head and Ears
Start by drawing a rounded, somewhat oval shape for the bunny’s head. On top of the head, draw two long, upright oval shapes for the ears with smaller ovals inside.

Step 2: Add the Bunny’s Body and Front Legs
Now, let’s give our bunny a body! Below the head, draw a slightly larger, rounded shape for the body. Connect it smoothly to the head.
For the front legs, draw two short, curved lines extending downwards from the front of the body, with small, rounded lines for the paws at the bottom.

Step 3: Draw the Hind Legs and Fluffy Tail
For the hind legs, draw two slightly longer, curved shapes on either side of the bottom of the body, showing them bent as if the bunny is sitting. Add rounded lines for the paws.
For the tail, draw a small, fluffy circle at the very back of the body – a perfect little puffball!

Step 4: Add the Bunny’s Face Details
Let’s give our bunny a friendly face!
- Inside the head, draw two large, round dots for the eyes with smaller dots inside for more expression.
- Add small round dots below the eyes to give your bunny a cute and friendly look.
- Below the eyes, draw a small, inverted triangle shape for the nose.
- Under the nose, draw two small, curved lines for a happy smile.
- Finally, add two long, thin lines extending outwards from the sides of the nose for the bunny’s whiskers.

Step 5: Color Your Cute Bunny!
Time to bring your bunny to life with color! Our example bunny is a lovely light yellow, but you can choose any color you like for your furry friend – perhaps white, brown, or even grey!

How to Fix Common Bunny Drawing Mistakes
- Ears Too Short/Small: Bunnies are known for their long ears! If yours look tiny, go back to Step 1 and make them much longer and more prominent.
- Body Too Thin: Bunnies are usually quite plump and soft. If your bunny looks too skinny, try making the body shape (from Step 2) wider and more rounded.
- Legs Uneven: Try to make the front and hind legs roughly the same size and shape, allowing for the natural bend of the hind legs, as in Steps 2 and 3.
- Missing Whiskers: Whiskers are a fun detail! If you forgot them, add those long, thin lines around the nose as shown in Step 4.
- Tail Not Fluffy: The fluffy tail is adorable! Make sure it’s a distinct little puffball shape from Step 3.
Helpful Drawing Tips and Tricks For Kids
- Long Ears First: Starting with the ears can help you get the right scale for the head and body.
- Soft, Curved Lines: Bunnies are soft and gentle, so use smooth, rounded lines for their shapes.
- Balance the Features: When drawing the face, try to make the eyes, nose, and mouth evenly spaced to give your bunny a balanced, cute look.
- Observe Bunnies in Nature: If you can, watch real bunnies move, eat, or sit. Noticing how their ears stand up, or how they tuck their paws, can give you great ideas for your drawing!
- Practice Makes Perfect: Don’t worry if your first bunny isn’t quite right. Keep practicing, and you’ll soon be drawing a whole warren of bunnies!
Bunny Fun Facts for Kids
- Great Hoppers: Bunnies are known for their powerful hind legs that help them hop and run very fast.
- Long Ears: Their long ears aren’t just cute; they help bunnies hear very well, which keeps them safe from predators.
- Twitching Noses: Bunnies twitch their noses to help them smell better!
- Herbivores: Bunnies are vegetarians, eating mostly grass, clover, and leafy greens.
- Cute Babies: Baby bunnies are called “kittens” or “kits”!
Now it’s your turn! Grab a pencil, follow these steps, and draw your own cute bunny.
