Step 4: Draw The Fairy’s Wings

From the back of the fairy’s body, draw two sets of rounded oval shapes for the wings. The top wings should be larger and slightly curved, and the bottom wings should be smaller. Then, add some curved lines and small circles inside for a realistic look.

Step 5: Add the Fairy’s Hair and Face Details

Let’s give our fairy a friendly face and hair!

  • Draw wavy lines around the top of the head for the hair, then add a small flower shape on the side of her head.
  • Add two round dots for the eyes and tiny curved lines from the top for the eyelashes.
  • Draw a small curved line for the mouth, then finish with two circles on the cheeks for extra cuteness.

Erase any part of the face outline where the flower on the hair attaches to make it look connected.

How to Fix Common Fairy Drawing Mistakes

  • Wings Are Too Big or Small: Fairy wings should be delicate and in proportion to her body. If your wings look too large or too tiny, go back to Step 4 and adjust their size.
  • Dress Doesn’t Look Layered: The fairy’s dress has a layered, wavy look. Make sure to draw those curved lines to show the different layers, as in Step 2.
  • Legs Are Too Thick: Fairy legs are usually slender and graceful. If your legs look too thick, try making them thinner in Step 3.
  • Missing Facial Features: Don’t forget the big, round eyes and sweet smile to give your fairy a kind expression, as shown in Step 5.

Helpful Fairy Drawing Tips and Tricks For Kids

  • Start with Light Lines: Begin by sketching lightly with your pencil so it’s easy to erase and make changes as you go.
  • Think About Poses: This fairy is standing, but you could also draw her flying! Imagine her soaring through the air with her wings spread wide.
  • Practice Wing Shapes: Fairy wings can come in many different shapes and sizes. Try drawing a few different wing styles before you add them to your fairy.
  • Add Sparkle! Once you’ve colored your fairy, you can add some glitter or sparkly markers to her wings and dress to make her extra magical!
  • Have Fun with Hair: Fairies often have beautiful, flowing hair. Try drawing long, wavy hair that moves as if caught in a gentle breeze.
