Start by drawing lightly so that it can be easily erased if there are mistakes, continue by following the arrow step.
Step 1: Draw the Dog’s Body Shape
Start by drawing the basic shape of the dog’s body, then add two curved lines for the dog’s legs with slightly rounded lines at the bottom for paws.
- Tip: The body shape and legs should be the same size for the right proportions.
This initial step teaches kids how to form the foundation of their drawing, helping them break down complex shapes into simple ones.
Step 2: Draw the Dog’s Body Details ( Legs, Paws Details, and Tail)
Now, draw straight lines for the legs at the back of the body. Then add small rounded lines at the bottom of each leg to create paw details, and draw a triangle shape for the tail.
- Tip: The triangle tail can be curved or straight depending on how playful or relaxed your dog is!
Adding the tail, legs, and paw details gives the dog its structure and balance, helping kids understand how each part of the body connects.
Step 3: Draw the Face and Ears Of The Dog
Draw an oval at the top of the body for the face. After that Add two curved triangles on either side of the head for the dog’s floppy ears.
Tip: The oval head and floppy ears give the dog a friendly, approachable look that kids love.
This step encourages creativity as kids personalize their dog with unique features, like ears and face.
Step 4: Draw the Dog’s Face Details
Firstly, add two circles for the eyes, with small circles inside each for extra detail. Then draw lines above the eyes for the eyebrows, and add an oval in the center for the nose. Lastly, draw two half circles below the nose to create the mouth.
- Tip: Make the eyes big and bright for a cute, cartoon-like dog. The little half circles for the mouth give the dog a happy expression.
This step brings the dog to life by giving it facial expressions and small features that make it more realistic and fun to draw.
Step 5: Color Your Dog
Once you’ve completed your drawing, it’s time to color it! Let kids get creative with brown, black, white, or even rainbow colors if they want!
- Tip: Classic dog colors like brown and black are great, but encourage your child to use their imagination to create a unique dog.
Coloring helps bring the dog drawing to life and lets kids explore different color combinations, enhancing their artistic abilities.
